Capcom Reveals Star-Studded Cast for Upcoming Street Fighter Film

Capcom has officially announced the cast for its highly anticipated Street Fighter movie, produced by Legendary Pictures. The confirmation came on September 5, marking a significant moment for the franchise as it embarks on its first major film production in years. With the film already in production, fans are eager to see how this adaptation will unfold, especially following the success of recent titles like the Mortal Kombat reboot.
The casting choices have sparked interest, featuring a mix of established stars and unexpected selections. Notably, comedian and actor Eric Andre has been cast as Don Sauvage, a character known for his lively personality and role as an announcer in the games, rather than a fighter. This choice aligns well with Andre’s comedic style, setting the stage for an engaging performance.
In addition to Andre, the cast includes 50 Cent as Balrog and Jason Momoa as Blanka. Several professional wrestlers are also set to portray iconic fighters, adding a unique dimension to the film. Street Fighter is not alone in making headlines this week; Activision and Paramount have reportedly reached an agreement to develop a live-action Call of Duty movie as well.
Production Details and Release Date
The Street Fighter film is currently in production, with a scheduled release date of October 16, 2026. The timeline suggests that the film is a little over three years away, intensifying anticipation among fans. According to The Hollywood Reporter and reported by Wccftech, the narrative appears to be set in 1993, focusing on main characters Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li. The plot revolves around Chun-Li recruiting Ryu and Ken for the World Warrior Tournament, where they will likely face off against each other due to unforeseen circumstances, possibly orchestrated by the notorious villain M. Bison.
The confirmed cast thus far includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. Other notable cast members include Cody Rhodes as Guile, Orville Peck as Vega, and Vidut Jammwal as Dhalsim. The eclectic mix of talent aims to bring a fresh yet authentic portrayal of the beloved characters.
Interesting Casting Choices
While some of the casting decisions may appear unconventional, they seem to fit the characters’ personalities well. For instance, Andrew Schulz, who plays Dan Hibiki, embodies the overconfident nature of his character, likely delivering an entertaining performance. Olivier Richters, cast as Zangief, not only resembles the character but has also demonstrated his physicality in previous roles, such as his portrayal of hired security in the series Reacher.
The ensemble cast reflects a blend of talent that aims to capture the spirit of the franchise. Fans are hopeful that the film will successfully translate the engaging dynamics of the video game into a compelling cinematic experience.
As production progresses, updates are likely to unfold, providing further insight into how Capcom’s vision for the Street Fighter universe will come to life on the big screen. With a release date set and a cast that promises excitement, the anticipation for this film continues to build.
