Celebrate Family Day 2026 with Exciting Events in Squamish
Family Day in British Columbia is set for February 16, 2026, offering residents and visitors in Squamish a range of engaging activities over the long weekend. The timing closely follows Valentine’s Day on February 14, creating a festive atmosphere filled with events designed for families and couples alike.
In celebration of Family Day, the Squamish Public Library will host a family storytime session on Valentine’s Day, providing a delightful opportunity for children and parents to enjoy stories together. Please note that the Library will be closed on the statutory holiday itself, February 16. Meanwhile, the Brennan Park Pool will be open for public swimming from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.> on Family Day, welcoming families to splash and enjoy the water.
For those looking to explore local attractions, the Britannia Mine Museum will offer a limited number of same-day tickets throughout the Family Day weekend. Visitors must arrive in person to secure their admission. Additionally, the Sea to Sky Gondola will feature a scavenger hunt all weekend, providing a fun challenge for families. On Sunday, visitors can enjoy live music performed by Marc Charron.
If you’re seeking an alternative Valentine’s experience, consider attending the cabaret show at Trickster’s Hideout on February 14. From 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Melody Mangler will showcase some of Vancouver’s finest talent, promising an entertaining evening for attendees.
To satisfy your sweet tooth, the Hot Chocolate Festival will take place at various establishments around Squamish. For a list of locations participating in this delightful event, check the Tourism Squamish website.
In addition to these events, the Squamish Canyon will feature extended hours and boardwalk movies each day of the long weekend at 2 p.m., along with a storytime session at 12 p.m.. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore numerous trails in the region, which is known as the adventure capital of Canada. The District of Squamish provides an interactive map of parks and playgrounds, making it easier for families to plan their visits.
For those interested in nature, BC Parks lists a variety of provincially managed parks for outdoor exploration. However, hikers should note that the main trailhead for the Stawamus Chief remains closed to the public due to a rockfall event that occurred in December.
With an array of activities planned, Family Day 2026 in Squamish promises to be a memorable celebration for families and the community.
