Celebrate Robbie Burns with Music, Dance, and Haggis
On January 30, 2024, the AlgomaTrad Centre on St. Joseph Island will host a vibrant celebration honoring the legacy of Scottish poet Robert Burns. The festivities are set to begin at 19:30 and will feature an array of traditional Scottish cultural performances.
Evening Highlights at AlgomaTrad Centre
The evening promises to be filled with an engaging mix of entertainment, including Scottish fiddle music, Highland dancing, and Highland bagpiping. Participants can look forward to an Address to the Haggis, along with performances of Burns’ songs and poetry. This year marks a departure from the usual catered meal, as AlgomaTrad has opted for a more casual format. Attendees can still enjoy haggis alongside a variety of snacks and desserts.
Guests are encouraged to contribute to the culinary experience by bringing their favorite Scottish shortbread recipes. “The more, the merrier,” organizers stated, inviting participants to share their homemade treats and compare flavors. This communal aspect aims to enhance the evening’s festive atmosphere.
Event Details and Ticket Information
Tickets for the celebration are available for purchase online, priced at $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students, and $10 for children aged 12 and under (children aged 4 and under enter free). All prices are subject to HST. The doors will open at 19:30, with bar service available for attendees.
