Musical Overview and Creative Team

“Newsies” is inspired by the real-life events of the 1899 newsboy strike in New York City. The musical, which debuted on Broadway in 2012 and ran until August 2014, features a book by Harvey Fierstein, with music and lyrics composed by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman. The story centers on young newspaper sellers who band together to fight against unfair working conditions and demand better wages.

The performances at Clifton Central High School promise to capture the spirit of the original Broadway production with a vibrant cast and enthusiastic choreography. The team behind the scenes is committed to bringing this inspiring story to life, ensuring an engaging experience for all attendees.

Community Engagement and Support

The production of “Newsies” represents not only an artistic endeavor but also a significant opportunity for community involvement and support for local students. Families, friends, and community members are encouraged to attend, fostering a spirit of togetherness and celebration of the talents within the school.

As the curtain rises this weekend, Clifton Central High School invites everyone to join in this theatrical journey filled with music, drama, and a powerful message of unity and perseverance.
