Comedy and Thrillers Light Up Screen Lineup for Early 2026
As the new year unfolds, a promising array of comedy specials and gripping television shows is set to entertain audiences throughout January 2026. With a mix of new offerings and returning favorites, viewers can expect a diverse range of programming to enjoy.
Ricky Gervais leads the charge with his latest special, delivering his signature blend of dark humor that many may find refreshing after the festive season. This is just one of many comedy specials available now or premiering soon. Kumail Nanjiani brings his unique charm to Disney+ with his special, while Robby Hoffman makes her debut on Netflix with a provocative performance. Tom Segura also presents his unapologetically outrageous special, further enriching the comedy landscape. Additionally, Marcello Hernández from SNL will debut a new special, recorded in front of a Miami audience, on January 7, 2026.
Thrilling New Series to Premiere
In addition to comedy, the month will see the release of the highly anticipated thriller series, His & Hers. Starring Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson, this series offers a fresh take on a British cozy mystery, remade for American audiences. The first two episodes will premiere on January 4, 2026, on Fox, followed by a release on CTV on January 7, 2026. The show follows a brilliant surgeon, played by Josh Charles, who returns to his small-town roots, forcing him to confront his past and the complex relationships he left behind.
Returning shows are also generating buzz, with several acclaimed series gearing up for new seasons. The comedy-drama Workin’ Moms resumes with its sharp exploration of modern motherhood, tackling issues such as hormone replacement therapy and workplace dynamics. Meanwhile, Noah Wyle returns to the medical drama scene in The Pitt, which promises another season of intense medical scenarios and emotional depth.
Finally, the adaptation of John le Carré’s spy drama continues to captivate audiences with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Jonathan Pine, navigating a world filled with intrigue and danger.
As January unfolds, the blending of humor and suspense across various platforms ensures that viewers will have an exciting start to the year. With a wealth of choices, audiences can look forward to a dynamic entertainment landscape that caters to a wide array of tastes.
