Dolly Parton Postpones Las Vegas Residency Due to Health Issues

Dolly Parton has announced the postponement of her upcoming Las Vegas residency, marking her first return to the city in 32 years, due to “health challenges.” The country music icon shared this news on her social media platforms, stating that she requires medical procedures that necessitate a break from performing.
In her announcement, Parton explained the situation without going into specific details. She remarked, “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.” She added a humorous touch, saying, “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
Parton was scheduled to perform a series of six shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, from December 4 to December 13, 2023, coinciding with the popular National Finals Rodeo. The newly rescheduled dates are now set for September 2026, with all tickets remaining valid for the new shows. Refunds will also be available for those unable to attend the new dates.
“I’m not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” she emphasized.
Despite this setback, Parton reassured her fans, saying, “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But I believe he is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
While Parton has not toured since her “Pure & Simple Tour” concluded in 2016, she remains active in various projects. On November 11, 2023, she plans to release a new book titled “Star of the Show: My Life on Stage.” Furthermore, a new stage musical inspired by her life is expected to debut on Broadway in 2026.
Earlier this month, Parton faced health issues that prevented her from attending the announcement of a new attraction at her theme park, Dollywood. She disclosed that a kidney stone had caused complications, leading to an infection that required her to refrain from travel temporarily. “I had a kidney stone that was causing me a lot of problems, and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute,’” she explained in a video message at the time.
Additionally, Parton faced personal loss earlier this year with the passing of her husband, Carl Dean, who died at the age of 82. Dean, who largely stayed out of the public eye, inspired Parton’s timeless song “Jolene,” and the couple had been married for nearly 60 years.
As Parton continues to navigate these challenges, her fans remain supportive, eager for her return to the stage when she is ready.
