Drake Bets $300,000 on Jannik Sinner to Win U.S. Open

NEW YORK — Rapper Drake has placed a significant wager of $300,000 on the world’s top-ranked men’s tennis player, Jannik Sinner, to win the U.S. Open. This bet, made public through a social media post featuring a screenshot of the betting slip, reflects Drake’s ongoing fascination with high-stakes gambling on sports events.
The potential payout from this bet stands at $507,000 if Sinner secures his fifth major championship and second title at the U.S. Open. Known for his large bets, Drake has faced challenges in the past, often humorously referred to as the “Drake Curse,” which has seemingly impacted several outcomes in his favour.
Drake’s Betting History and Recent Performance
Drake’s penchant for betting on sporting events has resulted in notable losses, including a $210,000 bet on American player Taylor Fritz during the 2024 U.S. Open final against Sinner. This loss is part of a larger trend, as a website dedicated to tracking Drake’s bets indicates that he is currently down $115,000 in tennis-related wagers.
Despite these setbacks, the Canadian artist saw a brief recovery earlier this year when he successfully predicted Sinner’s victory at the Australian Open final in January. His latest bet comes as Sinner advances through the tournament, having recently defeated Alexander Bublik in the fourth round. The 24-year-old Italian is now set to face fellow countryman Lorenzo Musetti, where he has been positioned as the betting favourite on BetMGM Sportsbook.
As the U.S. Open progresses, all eyes will be on Sinner, not just for his performance on the court but also for the potential ramifications of Drake’s substantial wager. The combination of high stakes and high-profile players makes this tournament a focal point for both sports fans and those intrigued by the intersection of celebrity and athletics.
