Elora’s Monster March Parade Promises Fun for All Ages
A vibrant Halloween celebration is set to take over the streets of Elora on October 28, 2023, with the return of the annual Monster March. This festive costume party, organized by Sensational Elora, is expected to attract hundreds of participants, creating a lively atmosphere filled with ghouls and goblins.
Last year, the event saw over 1,200 attendees donning creative costumes to join in the parade. The Monster March not only provides entertainment but also serves a charitable purpose. This year, Sparrow’s Nest, a community organization focused on addressing food insecurity in Centre Wellington, will be collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations throughout the day.
Exciting Activities and Community Spirit
Participants will have the opportunity to decorate wagons and strollers for the parade, which includes a wicked wagon contest. Those in costume can also enter various costume competitions, showcasing their creativity and spirit. Local artist Tim Murton, known for his captivating Twilight Zoo featuring hundreds of monster sculptures, will add to the spectacle. Murton has created an additional 25 new creatures specifically for this year’s event.
The parade will feature live music from Josh Broadbent, a talented washboard player who will help lead the festivities. The sound of drums will resonate through the streets as Derek Bowers from the Fergus Pipe Band and trombone player Mike Smith join the celebrations, ensuring an energetic atmosphere.
The evening will culminate in a “Mini Mash” after-party for children at Bissell Park, providing a safe and exciting environment for families to enjoy the holiday spirit.
Gathering at 6 p.m. in MacDonald Square, the Monster March promises to be an unforgettable evening for the Elora community and visitors alike, blending fun, creativity, and a commitment to supporting those in need. The event highlights the power of community engagement and the joy of celebrating together.
