George Springer Out of Blue Jays’ Lineup for World Series Game 4
The Toronto Blue Jays confirmed that George Springer will not play in Game 4 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on October 28, 2025. Manager John Schneider had previously indicated uncertainty regarding Springer’s status, hinting that he may have been either considering his options or withholding information. Despite the anticipation surrounding Springer’s return, he will not be part of the starting lineup as the team looks to maintain its momentum in the championship series.
Springer’s absence is notable given his contributions throughout the season. While the team had planned to use him as a designated hitter or keep him on the bench, Schneider confirmed that the injury will prevent him from starting. There remains some doubt about whether Springer will serve as an alternate hitter during the game. This decision comes as the Blue Jays aim to rebound after facing the Dodgers in a tightly contested series.
With Springer sidelined, the lineup shifts to include Nathan Lukes, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Bo Bichette as the first three batters, followed by Addison Barger stepping into the fourth spot. The changes reflect the team’s strategy to adapt to Springer’s absence while maintaining a strong offensive front.
Pitching Pressure Mounts
The pitching matchup for Game 4 is set to be intense, particularly with Shohei Ohtani and Shane Bieber taking the mound for their respective teams. This will be their first World Series appearance, adding to the pressure as both teams rely heavily on their bullpens after extensive pitching in previous games. In Toronto, only Eric Lauer is unavailable for the bullpen, while the Dodgers are expected to have Will Klein ready to contribute.
The Blue Jays are contemplating their strategy against Ohtani, with Schneider not ruling out the possibility of an intentional walk in the first inning, although he has not confirmed any such plans. Meanwhile, the Dodgers have showcased their depth, with Clayton Kershaw having a brief but impactful appearance in Game 3 that resonated with fans and players alike.
As the excitement builds for Game 4, the stakes are high for both teams. The Blue Jays are determined to capitalize on their strengths and navigate the challenges posed by playing without one of their key players. The atmosphere is charged as fans eagerly await the outcome of what promises to be another thrilling chapter in this World Series matchup.
