Hunter McVey Discusses His Role in ABC’s ‘9-1-1 Nashville’
Actor Hunter McVey is making waves with his portrayal of Blue Bennings in the new procedural drama 9-1-1 Nashville on ABC. The series, set in one of America’s most vibrant cities, follows heroic first responders and their intertwined family dynamics, showcasing the power and glamour of Nashville. McVey, reflecting on his journey, expressed that this role has been “the coolest and most fulfilling experience” of his life, and he feels fortunate to work alongside such a talented team.
In his own words, McVey stated, “It has taught me more about myself than I ever would’ve thought. I feel like the luckiest man in the world when I go to work every single day.” His character, Blue, resonates deeply with him, as he appreciates the authenticity of a character who is navigating life’s challenges. “What I like most about Blue is that he is figuring life out like the rest of us. He is a newbie and he is not scared to fail,” McVey explained. He admires Blue’s loyalty and willingness to make personal sacrifices for the benefit of others.
Embracing the Digital Age and Inspiring Others
As an actor in today’s digital landscape, McVey acknowledges the unique opportunities that come with streaming platforms and social media. “I don’t know what it was like to be an actor before it, but I sure am having a lot of fun being an actor in the digital age right now!” he said. He credits the dedicated production crew of 9-1-1 Nashville for their hard work, stating, “Their effort makes me want to do my part and put my 110 percent effort in every single day.”
When discussing the lessons learned from the show’s screenplay, McVey emphasized the importance of self-belief and effort. “If you believe in yourself and give something 110 percent effort, you can accomplish more things than you realize,” he remarked. For aspiring actors, he shared, “Believe in yourself, and you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to. People have a lot more power, capability, and skill than they realize.”
Life Lessons and Future Aspirations
McVey also reflected on personal mottos that guide him. He shared, “Positive thoughts equal positive outcomes, and negative thoughts equal negative outcomes,” a principle instilled in him by his father. Another significant piece of advice came from his grandfather: “Enjoy every moment you can and be present in those moments.” This wisdom resonates with him daily.
If given a choice, McVey would opt for the superpower of flight, saying, “I would love to fly.” Looking ahead, he aims to continue his acting career while also working on his farm and spending time with loved ones. He defined success as “waking up every single day, healthy and excited to be alive.”
For fans eager to see what 9-1-1 Nashville has in store, McVey hinted that the upcoming episodes will be even more intense. “If they thought the first six episodes of Season 1 were crazy, then buckle in, because the next 12 episodes will blow your mind,” he teased.
