The International Guitar Night will feature an impressive lineup of four guitarists on Vancouver Island from January 28 to January 31, 2024. This concert series will present the talents of Itamar Erez, Jocelyn Gould, Jami Dupuis, and Caroline Planté, each bringing their unique styles and cultural backgrounds to the stage.

Itamar Erez is a renowned guitarist and composer known for his ability to blend Middle Eastern influences with jazz improvisation. His accolades include the 2014 ACUM Prize for Special Achievement in Jazz and the prestigious Landau Prize. Erez has graced notable venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Barbican in London, and the Sydney Opera House, showcasing his exceptional talent on the global stage.

On the other hand, Jocelyn Gould is a celebrated JUNO Award-winning guitarist and vocalist. Recognized for her soulful sound and modern bebop phrasing, Gould has performed around the world. Her live performances are characterized by a captivating blend of virtuosic guitar work and emotive vocals, establishing her as a prominent figure in contemporary jazz.

Also featured is Jami Dupuis, a guitarist and composer renowned for his innovative fingerstyle technique and his unique approach with the harp guitar. Dupuis, a winner of the Canadian Guitar Festival Competition in 2016, draws from classical training while infusing elements of rock, jazz, and folk into his performances.

Completing the quartet is Caroline Planté, one of the few prominent female flamenco guitarists in the world. Her contributions to contemporary flamenco composition are significant, having studied under master musicians in both Canada and Spain. Planté served as the musical director for Cruceta Flamenco in Madrid from 2005 to 2013. Her groundbreaking album, 8 Reflexiones, released in 2010, marked a pivotal moment in music history as the first flamenco album composed and recorded by a woman.
