Kingston Residents Score Big with Lottery Wins Totaling Over $1.3 Million

Luck has struck Kingston, Ontario, as two residents recently celebrated significant lottery victories. Following a remarkable $75 million jackpot win by David Hatt, James Kane and William Burns have also secured life-changing amounts through different lottery draws.
On September 3, 2023, James Kane won the Lightning Lotto jackpot, amounting to $1,288,729.80. Kane, a father of two and a city worker, became aware of the escalating jackpot and decided to purchase a ticket. According to a news release from Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG), he experienced disbelief when he checked his ticket at Aberfoyle Convenience.
“I realized I won big and was in disbelief,” Kane expressed. “I spent the rest of the day walking around thinking it was a dream and wondering when I’d wake up!”
Kane shared the exciting news with his family, who were equally astonished. “My wife saw a picture of the winning ticket and thought I was showing her the jackpot amount — not the actual winning ticket!” he added. With his newfound wealth, Kane plans to invest in an early retirement. “It feels great for this to happen at this time in my life,” he concluded.
In a separate win, William Burns, another Kingston resident, claimed the jackpot in the Poker Lotto All In worth $60,017.00 on August 29, 2023. He also won $5,000 from the instant portion of his Poker Lotto play, bringing his total winnings to $65,017.70. Burns purchased his winning ticket at Family News Stand on Days Road in Kingston.
These recent victories have added to a wave of excitement in the community, showcasing the unpredictable nature of lottery games and their potential to change lives. With wins like these, Kingston has certainly become a hotspot for lottery luck.
