Meg Bush Discusses Role in ‘The CEO and the Country Girl’
Actress Meg Bush recently shared her experiences while filming “The CEO and the Country Girl,” which is now streaming on AltaTV. In this romantic drama, Bush portrays Avery Rogers, a strong-willed cowgirl who faces off against Jackson Tiller’s character, Tyler Sinclair, a corporate heir aiming to take over her family farm. Directed by Corey Gibbons from a screenplay by Jenny Rosen, the film explores themes of loyalty, love, and resilience in the face of betrayal.
The plot unfolds as Avery confronts both her sister’s treachery and the aggressive tactics of Tyler, leading to unexpected chemistry between them. Bush described her role as one that embodies grit and determination, stating, “I like that Avery has grit and a lot of strength. She is a tough cookie.” She emphasized that unlike many characters in similar dramas, Avery does not succumb to victimhood, making the role empowering.
Bush expressed enthusiasm about her first collaboration with AltaTV, calling the experience “awesome.” She noted that working with Tiller was equally rewarding: “Jackson and I hit it off immediately and we became besties. It was so much fun.” Reflecting on her character’s persona, Bush mentioned the joy of portraying a character who is unapologetically herself.
Bridging Background and Performance
While Bush identifies as a city girl from New York, she found a connection to her roots through this role. “It was really nice to get down and dirty in this project,” she shared, highlighting how adopting a southern accent helped her immerse herself in the part. Her background in horseback riding provided additional authenticity to her portrayal, as she fondly recalled her youth in Stony Brook on Long Island.
The shift toward digital platforms has brought new opportunities for creativity in storytelling. Bush noted, “It’s really cool to be part of a medium where people are experimenting and trying new things.” The flexibility of platforms like AltaTV allows for unique genres and character portrayals, leading to more grounded acting that resonates with audiences. She praised Gibbons for his collaborative spirit, saying, “Corey was heavily involved in the creative process as well. He was a real team player.”
Redefining Success and Engagement
Bush is currently focused on pursuing projects that ignite her passion. “The title of this chapter of my life is ‘Fun and Passion,’” she explained. “I’m trying to really chase the work that I feel passionate about.” As she prepares for the coming year, she aims to keep fun at the forefront of her endeavors, recognizing the challenges of burnout in the entertainment industry.
She articulated her understanding of success as a balancing act, saying, “I think there needs to be a balance between feeling like you’re already in a version of success for yourself, but then also yearning for the next step.” With ongoing discussions with her manager about future auditions and projects, Bush is determined to remain dynamic in her career.
Connecting with her fan base has also become a priority for Bush. She has been actively engaging with supporters online and has started using the app Cameo to interact directly with fans. “It’s really surreal every day,” she remarked, recognizing the significance of having a dedicated audience that appreciates her work.
As she continues her journey in the entertainment industry, Bush remains committed to both her craft and her fans. “It’s like the most magical, insane, awesome thing ever,” she concluded, emphasizing the joy of connecting with those who support her artistic endeavors.
