Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci Film Sequel at Milan Fashion Week

Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci made a surprise appearance at Milan Fashion Week, filming scenes for the highly anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2. The event unfolded during the Dolce and Gabbana show, where the iconic duo reprised their roles from the original film, much to the delight of attendees.
The excitement surrounding their appearance began early in the day, with whispers circulating among photographers gathered outside the venue. They confirmed that Streep would be stepping into the shoes of her character, the formidable editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, from the beloved 2006 film. Streep arrived at the Metropol theatre shortly after 15:00, sporting Priestly’s distinctive cat-eye glasses, a nude patent trench coat, and striking high heels.
Tucci, who portrays Priestly’s confidant Nigel, accompanied Streep, and the pair took their seats in the front row next to renowned supermodel Naomi Campbell. Their presence garnered applause from the audience, who were initially unaware of the filming happening right before them. Actress Simone Ashley, known for her role in Bridgerton, made her way over the duo to claim her seat in the second row.
The three cast members donned outfits from Dolce and Gabbana, confirming the brand’s role in this cinematic moment. They were strategically positioned across the runway from Anna Wintour, the influential editor of Vogue and a prominent figure in the fashion industry. Although film cameras were discreetly placed, it remains uncertain if Wintour will make an appearance in the sequel.
Filming for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has taken place in various locations around New York City over the past few months, fueling speculation among fans about potential plotlines and fashion choices. The sequel promises to bring back familiar faces, including Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway, who played Priestly’s junior personal assistant Andrea “Andy” Sachs in the original film. In this new installment, Priestly navigates the challenges of an evolving media landscape as traditional magazine publishing faces significant pressures.
Dolce and Gabbana is no stranger to splashy moments at Milan Fashion Week. The brand previously stirred controversy in 2022 when a collection curated by Kim Kardashian bore a striking resemblance to designs created for her sister Kourtney Kardashian‘s wedding, highlighting the brand’s flair for generating buzz.
As anticipation builds for the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2, fans are eager to see how the characters evolve and what new fashion statements will emerge from the film, scheduled to hit theaters in 2024.
