Michael Stevantoni Launches Feature Film in California Premiere
Michael Stevantoni, a former resident of Campbell River and graduate of Carihi Secondary School, celebrated the debut of his second feature film, Death Letter Blues, at the Lemmie Glendale theatre in Glendale, California, on August 8, 2023. This film marks another significant milestone in Stevantoni’s burgeoning career in the film industry.
Co-written and co-directed by Strack Azar, Death Letter Blues is a southern gothic supernatural thriller that explores the haunting aftermath of a mysterious death in a small town. The narrative follows a troubled priest as he confronts unsettling parallels between the tragedy and his recurring nightmares.
The film was shot in Mississippi and features a talented cast, including Sherman Augustus, known for his role in Stranger Things, as well as Karole Foreman and Ramsay Midwood. In a notable family connection, local author and professional actress Diana Stevan, who is also Stevantoni’s grandmother, plays the role of Mrs. Webb, a close friend of the priest.
