Oasis Guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs Takes Break for Cancer Treatment

Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs has announced he is stepping away from the band’s world tour to address his ongoing battle with prostate cancer. The 60-year-old musician shared the news on Instagram on October 6, 2023, detailing a “planned” health break following his diagnosis earlier this year.
In his statement, Arthurs expressed optimism about his treatment, stating, “The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour.” He confirmed that he would be missing performances in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney as he transitions into the next phase of his care.
Despite his disappointment at missing these shows, Arthurs reassured fans that he is “feeling good” and intends to return in time for the South American leg of the tour, which begins in Argentina on November 15, 2023. He encouraged concert-goers to enjoy the upcoming performances, stating, “Have an amazing time if you’re going this month, and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.”
The band echoed Arthurs’ sentiments on their official Instagram account, offering support with a message: “Wishing you all the best with your treatment @boneheadspage — we’ll see you back on stage in South America.”
Arthurs first disclosed his cancer diagnosis in April 2022, when he revealed he was undergoing treatment for tonsillar cancer during a series of shows with fellow band member Liam Gallagher. In a heartfelt statement at the time, he noted, “Just to let you all know I’m going to be taking a break from playing for a while. I’ve been diagnosed with tonsil cancer, but the good news is it’s treatable and I’ll be starting a course of treatment soon.”
Following his treatment, Arthurs shared in September 2022 that he was in recovery and that his cancer was “gone,” expressing gratitude towards the medical team at The Christie NHS. He thanked fans for their support, saying, “Thank you so much all of you for the messages I’ve had throughout; you’ve helped more than you know.”
As Arthurs takes this necessary break for his health, the music community and fans continue to rally behind him, hoping for his swift recovery and return to the stage.
