Old Joliet Prison Hosts ‘The Blues Brothers’ 45th Anniversary Screening

The Old Joliet Prison will host a special screening of “The Blues Brothers” on October 4, 2024, to commemorate the film’s 45th anniversary. This event, organized by the Joliet Area Historical Museum, offers fans a unique chance to watch the cult classic at the very location where its iconic opening sequence was filmed.
In collaboration with Blues Brothers Approved Ventures, managed by actor Dan Aykroyd and Luke Pisano, the son of the late Judith Belushi Pisano, the celebration aims to connect audiences with the film’s rich history. “We’re thrilled to be back in Joliet, celebrating the 45th anniversary of ‘The Blues Brothers’ in the very place where it all began,” Pisano stated. He emphasized the personal ties to the area, noting that his mother and John Belushi grew up nearby, embodying the essence of the location.
The event will serve as more than just a film screening; it promises to be a festive reunion for fans. Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with memorabilia, food trucks offering local culinary delights, and beverages. Greg Peerbolte, CEO of the Joliet Area Historical Museum, expressed pride in continuing the partnership with BBAV, highlighting the significance of watching the film in its original setting.
Celebrating a Cultural Icon
Originally released in 1980, “The Blues Brothers” has left an indelible mark on popular culture.
