Radiothon Launches to Equip Victoria Hospital Expansion
The 20th annual Give a Little Life Day radiothon is currently taking place across Pattison Media radio stations in Prince Albert. This event aims to raise funds necessary for equipping the new expansion of the Victoria Hospital. While the construction of the expansion is being funded by the Saskatchewan Government, the community is tasked with raising the money needed for essential medical equipment.
Community Support for Healthcare Needs
The Boreal Healthcare Foundation is spearheading the fundraising campaign, urging residents to contribute to the Equip the Vic initiative. This campaign has a target of raising $40 million to acquire crucial equipment, including an MRI machine and two new CT scanners, alongside various other diagnostic tools and operating room instruments.
To incentivize donations, local philanthropists Barb and Gord Broda have pledged to match contributions up to $100,000. This matching initiative is designed to encourage greater community participation and amplify the impact of donations made during the radiothon.
The radiothon is scheduled to run until 18:00 (6 p.m.) on March 15, 2024, providing an opportunity for individuals and businesses to contribute towards the healthcare needs of their community.
Impact of the Initiative
As the demand for advanced healthcare services continues to grow, the need for updated and reliable medical equipment becomes increasingly crucial. The Boreal Healthcare Foundation emphasizes that community support is vital for ensuring that the new hospital facilities can serve the population effectively.
Participants in the radiothon will have various avenues through which they can donate, contributing to a shared goal of enhancing healthcare in the region. The success of this event will not only benefit current patients but will also ensure that future healthcare needs can be met in Prince Albert and surrounding areas.
By coming together to support the Give a Little Life Day radiothon, residents have the chance to make a significant difference in their community’s health resources. The initiative reflects a collective commitment to improving healthcare standards and accessibility for all.
