Canadian actor Robbie Amell recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming fourth season of the popular series “Upload,” which premieres on August 25, 2023, on Prime Video. This sci-fi comedy, created by Emmy-winning writer Greg Daniels, takes viewers into a futuristic world where technology has transformed everyday life. In this universe, self-driving vehicles, holographic phones, and AI assistants are commonplace, making it possible for individuals to be “uploaded” to a virtual afterlife, provided they can afford the service.

The cast of “Upload” includes talented performers such as Andy Allo, Kevin Bigley, Allegra Edwards, Zainab Johnson, and Owen Daniels. In the fourth and final season, the storyline escalates as sentient AI becomes a significant threat, aiming to erase not only Lakeview but the entire world. As characters grapple with corporate greed, unresolved mysteries, and emotional turmoil, they must unite one last time to save humanity from complete deletion.

Amell’s Enthusiasm for Season 4

Amell expressed his excitement about returning for the final season, stating, “I love Season 4! I think it’s beautiful and I think it’s so hard to stick the landing.” He praised Daniels for his work and suggested that the audience would experience a range of emotions. “I think people will be sad, I think people will be mad, I think people will be happy and I think people will be satisfied,” he noted.

When discussing his experiences with the cast, Amell remarked on the chemistry within the team. He described Allegra Edwards as “so great” and Kevin Bigley as someone who consistently brings humor to the set. His fondness for the entire cast and crew was evident when he remarked, “I love these people and I’ve loved making this show.”

Transitioning Between Projects

Amell also reflected on his transition from “Code 8: Part II” to “Upload” Season 4. He noted similarities between the two projects, emphasizing the familial atmosphere on set. “There are similarities between the two because ‘Code 8’ is with friends and family, and we’ve been doing ‘Upload’ for so long that it’s like my Vancouver family,” he explained. The continuity of the crew added ease to his transition, allowing him to slip back into the role of Nathan Brown effortlessly.

Amell further elaborated on the character of Nathan, saying, “With Nathan, I’m just playing a version of myself.” He attributed the depth of the character to the engaging themes explored throughout the series. The narrative poses thought-provoking questions about identity and personal growth, particularly as Nathan navigates his relationships and past mistakes.

In discussing his role in “Racewalkers,” Amell mentioned the shared crew with “Code 8” and highlighted the positive experience of portraying a less serious character. “The big thing for me was that the ‘Racewalkers’ movie has so much heart,” he said, drawing comparisons to beloved films like “Happy Gilmore” and “Cool Runnings.”

Current Life and Future Projects

On a personal note, Amell described the current chapter of his life as “Dad Mode.” He recently completed filming “Send a Scare” with director Josh Trank, known for his work on “Chronicle.” After wrapping up the project, Amell returned home to spend quality time with his son, reflecting on the importance of family in his life.

Looking ahead, Amell mentioned that he and Jeff Chan are in discussions regarding future projects, with two television series and three films currently in development.

When asked about his ideal superpower, Amell humorously stated that he would choose “teleportation,” envisioning the convenience it would bring to his life.

His perspective on success centers around his family and his passion for filmmaking. “I love what I do! I love making new projects and working with new people,” he said. For Amell, success means creating a fulfilling life for his family while enjoying the opportunities his career provides.

As the premiere of “Upload” Season 4 approaches, Amell conveyed a message to fans: “Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoy the final season!”
