Sharon Osbourne Shares Ozzy’s Heartfelt Last Words Before Death
Sharon Osbourne has recounted the poignant last words spoken by her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at the age of 76. The legendary frontman of Black Sabbath died from a heart attack on July 22, 2023, just two weeks after performing at a farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham.
In an emotional interview on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored, Sharon, 73, described the intimate moments they shared before his death. She recalled that Ozzy had been unwell during the night, frequently going to the bathroom. At around 04:30, he asked her to wake up, to which she responded, “I’m already bloody awake.” He then requested a kiss and a tight hug, leaving Sharon to reflect on their final moments together. “I can’t help wondering if I should have, could I have? If only I’d have told him I loved him more,” she said.
After their tender exchange, Ozzy went downstairs for his daily workout. Moments later, Sharon heard a commotion, only to find him suffering a heart attack. “I ran downstairs, and they were trying to resuscitate him. I’m like, ‘Don’t — just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone,’” she recounted. Despite the efforts to revive him, it was clear to Sharon that he had already passed.
In the weeks leading up to his death, Ozzy experienced unusual visions, which he shared with Sharon. He spoke of seeing various people he did not recognize, walking and observing them without interaction. “He knew. He was ready,” she remarked, suggesting that he had a sense of his impending departure.
Ozzy’s last performance took place at the “Back to the Beginning” concert, where he was joined by Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Terence “Geezer” Butler, and Bill Ward. The event attracted approximately 40,000 fans and also featured acts such as Anthrax, Metallica, and Guns N’ Roses. During the show, Ozzy expressed his gratitude to the audience, stating, “You have no idea how I feel — thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Despite his enthusiasm, Sharon revealed that Ozzy’s doctors had warned him against performing. “He’d been so ill this year — terribly, terribly ill,” she explained. They met with a new medical team, and the lead doctor cautioned Ozzy that performing might have fatal consequences. “We just sat there, and he said, ‘I’m doing it. I want to do it, and I’m doing it,’” Sharon recalled, emphasizing his determination.
Ozzy had battled pneumonia three times in the same year and contracted sepsis, which took a severe toll on his health. “He couldn’t stand anymore, so he had a custom-built throne for the show,” Sharon noted, highlighting his desire to connect with fans one last time. “He just wanted it so bad to say thank you to everyone,” she added.
Following the concert, Ozzy was amazed by the positive media coverage, expressing disbelief at the level of support he had received throughout his career. “He kept looking at the papers, and he goes to me, ‘I never knew so many people liked me,’” Sharon shared. In the days after the concert, she noted that he was happier than he had been in seven years, relishing in the joy and appreciation from his fans.
Sharon Osbourne’s reflections provide an intimate glimpse into the final moments of a rock icon, revealing both the personal and public aspects of Ozzy’s life as he faced his end.
