Toad’s Place Celebrates 50 Years as a Premier Music Venue

Toad’s Place, a renowned music venue located in New Haven, Connecticut, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Following a birthday celebration for Koplik, the Stones performed an impromptu hour-long set, thrilling a crowd of 700 with classics like “Start Me Up.” The band had been rehearsing nearby and sought a small venue to warm up for their upcoming tour, leading to one of the most unforgettable evenings in the club’s history.

Bob Dylan also made a mark at Toad’s, selling out a show in just 18 minutes in 1990. His performance, which lasted over four hours, is still regarded as one of the longest in the venue’s history, showcasing the draw of significant artists who appreciate the intimate vibe of the space.
