Vancouver Island’s Music Scene Shines with Jazz and Beatles Tribute
This weekend, music lovers on Vancouver Island can enjoy a variety of performances, showcasing local talent across genres. Three notable events will feature jazz, the timeless music of The Beatles, and indie folk, providing something for everyone to enjoy.
Vancouver Island Dynamite Takes the Stage
On November 23, 2025, the five-piece band Vancouver Island Dynamite will perform at Hermann’s Jazz & Blues Club in Victoria. The ensemble will explore jazz funk from the seventies through the nineties, drawing inspiration from iconic artists such as Herbie Hancock, Grover Washington Jr., and Stevie Wonder.
The performance begins at 19:00 and tickets are available for $25 plus fees and tax. This concert presents a unique opportunity to experience some of the most dynamic musicians in the region, coming together to deliver a lively and groove-heavy performance that is rarely seen live.
The Sutcliffes Celebrate The Beatles
Also on November 23, 2025, The Sutcliffes, Vancouver Island’s premier Beatles tribute band, will host a special theatre show at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre in Duncan. Their performance, titled “The Legacy of The Beatles,” will highlight songs from the iconic Red and Blue greatest hits albums, spanning early singles to later classics.
The show runs from 19:00 to 21:30, with adult tickets priced around $41.25 and child tickets at approximately $25. Attendees can expect a captivating experience, as the band focuses on the music itself, eschewing wigs and costumes to emphasize the timeless melodies of The Beatles.
Indie Folk with Daniel James McFadyen
For those inclined towards indie folk, Daniel James McFadyen will perform at The Coda in Victoria on the same evening. Originally from Caledon and currently based in Nova Scotia, McFadyen will present his “Landmine” tour, showcasing songs from his EP “Songs To Show Your Friends” alongside new material from a recently recorded album.
Doors open at 18:00, with the performance set to begin at 18:30 and conclude by 20:30. Tickets are priced around $20 plus fees. His concerts are known for their inviting atmosphere, featuring engaging storytelling and sing-along choruses, creating a sense of camaraderie among attendees.
Whether you’re drawn to the rhythms of jazz, the nostalgia of The Beatles, or the heartfelt lyrics of indie folk, this weekend’s performances on Vancouver Island promise to deliver memorable musical experiences for all.
