Weather Alerts Issued as Atlantic Canada Braces for Storm
Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for much of the Atlantic region, forecasting a mix of snow, rain, and high winds. The agency warns that the combination of these weather conditions will significantly impact several areas from December 2 to December 3, 2025.
Forecast Details and Expected Impact
Inland Nova Scotia and elevated regions, particularly the Cape Breton Highlands, can expect between 15 to 35 centimetres of snow beginning Tuesday and continuing into Wednesday. Along the Atlantic coast, residents should prepare for 30 to 50 millimetres of rain coupled with strong winds during the same period.
Southeast New Brunswick is also set to experience winter weather, with forecasts predicting 10 to 15 centimetres of snow this afternoon through Wednesday. Meanwhile, Prince Edward Island is anticipated to receive more than 15 centimetres of snow, alongside high winds that could create hazardous conditions.
As the storm progresses, Newfoundland will not be spared, with predictions of 20 to 30 centimetres of snow beginning Wednesday. The weather system poses a risk of reduced visibility and treacherous travel conditions across the region.
Preparedness and Safety Recommendations
Residents in affected areas are advised to stay informed about the latest updates from Environment Canada and to take necessary precautions. This includes avoiding non-essential travel during the storm and ensuring that emergency kits are stocked with essential supplies.
The combination of heavy snowfall and strong winds could lead to power outages and disruptions in transportation services. Authorities are urging individuals to plan ahead and remain vigilant.
For ongoing updates, residents can consult the Environment Canada website, where real-time information is provided.
