Community Mourns Loss of Donald Robert White at 61

Donald Robert White, aged 61, passed away on January 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He died at the Sault Area Hospital, surrounded by his family and a dedicated care team. White’s passing has left a profound impact on his loved ones, friends, and the community.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne White, with whom he shared nearly 40 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Stephanie Pickell (Wade), Benjamin White (Brittany Dufault), and he proudly embraced the role of grandfather to his four grandchildren, Issac, Ciara, Joshua, and Zachary. His beloved pets, George and Freckles, also held a special place in his heart.

White was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Heather White, and his brother Bradley White. He is mourned by his mother-in-law, Pauline Few, along with siblings-in-law, friends, and a wide circle of relatives. Notable among them are his lifelong friend Michael Comartin and his “Big Buddy” Paul Frampton.

Remembering a Vibrant Life

Donald White was known for his charismatic personality and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He had a unique sense of humor and a talent for fixing just about anything. Family and friends will fondly remember his delicious home-cooked meals, captivating stories, and even his questionable taste in movies. His larger-than-life presence filled every room he entered, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

A memorial service is scheduled for February 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Lions Gate Banquet Hall, located at 386 Blake Street, Barrie. Another service will take place later on May 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Pinecrest Tent and Trailer Park, situated at 12519 Hwy 17, Thessalon.

The community is encouraged to come together to honor Donald Robert White’s life and legacy, celebrating the love and laughter he shared with so many.
