Family Mourns the Loss of Kaye Margaret McGuire at 79
The family of Kaye Margaret McGuire has announced her passing on August 20, 2025, following a brief but brave fight against leukemia. Kaye, who was 79 years old, died at ARCH, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family.
Born on June 18, 1946, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Kaye was the daughter of the late Ennis and Marie Bumstead. She was married to Gerald E. McGuire and was a devoted mother to their children: Gerry McGuire (Rosemary) and Kara Provenzano (Lucas). She also cherished her role as a grandmother to Isabella, Patrick, and Lily McGuire, as well as Ronan, Ava, and Adam Provenzano, and as a great-grandmother to Kaleb.
A Life of Service and Family Commitment
Kaye graduated from Sault Area High School in 1964 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University in 1968. Her professional journey included roles at The Plummer Memorial Hospital and The Children’s Aid Society. However, her greatest joy came from dedicating her life to her family, embracing her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother with passion.
She had a love for travel, geography, and cherished moments spent on St. Joe’s Island and in Florida. Kaye found happiness in simple pleasures such as playing Jeopardy and sharing laughter with those around her. A confidante and true friend, she was also active in her community as a member of the C.W.L..
Gratitude for Care and Support
The family expresses profound gratitude to the medical professionals who supported Kaye during her illness. They extend special thanks to Dr. Cook, Dr. Rahn, Dr. Hill, and Dr. N. Apostle, along with the dedicated staff at the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Clinic and Bayshore Home Health for their compassionate care. Kaye’s final months at ARCH were marked by exceptional support from the staff, whose kindness will not be forgotten.
Kaye’s passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew her. To honor her memory, the family invites friends to a funeral Mass at Precious Blood Cathedral on August 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARCH or a charity of choice. For those wishing to leave a message of condolence, please visit the obituaries section on the Arthur Funeral Home website.
Kaye Margaret McGuire will be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends. Her spirit will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
