Morris Hospital Expands Gastroenterology Services in Ottawa
Morris Hospital has announced an expansion of its healthcare services in Ottawa by introducing gastroenterology services. Effective immediately, patients can now receive specialized care at the new location situated at 1300 Starfire Drive. This initiative aims to address a variety of digestive health concerns for the local community.
At the forefront of this expansion is Stephanie Mickley, an advanced practice registered nurse with over 27 years of nursing experience, including 14 years dedicated to gastroenterology. Mickley will focus on treating a range of gastrointestinal issues, such as abdominal pain, heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, irregular bowel movements, and hemorrhoids. She also has expertise in managing complex conditions including Barrett’s esophagus, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and lymphocytic colitis.
“I want people to know that there is so much we can do to help with gastrointestinal and digestive issues,” Mickley stated. “I understand people can feel shy when discussing symptoms with a provider, but there’s no reason to feel embarrassed. We ask questions to help get us closer to addressing the symptoms and helping patients return to normal.”
This new service will complement the existing gastroenterology team at Morris Hospital, which includes Dr. Afreen Hyder, a gastroenterologist. Patients interested in scheduling an appointment can do so by calling 815-941-9320 for either the Morris or Ottawa locations.
The addition of gastroenterology services is expected to enhance the healthcare options available to residents in Ottawa, reflecting Morris Hospital’s commitment to improving patient access to specialized medical care. For more information about the new services, interested parties can visit the hospital’s website at morrishospital.org/gastro.
By expanding their offerings, Morris Hospital aims to meet the growing demand for digestive health services, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care close to home. This strategic move not only enhances local healthcare access but also positions Morris Hospital as a key player in the region’s medical landscape.
