New Meal Delivery Service Launches to Support Seniors in Okanagan

A new initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for seniors in the Okanagan region of British Columbia. Heart to Home Meals has officially launched a meal delivery service tailored for seniors, providing access to nutritious frozen meals designed to promote independence and well-being. This service, which began operations on October 2, 2023, addresses a critical need identified by its founders, Lonny and JoAnn Kubas.
The inspiration for this venture emerged from the personal experiences of the Kubas family. Lonny shared that his mother, Rose Kubas, faced challenges in sourcing affordable and healthy meals. “Our goal is to keep people in their homes longer,” he stated during a small launch event at the Rotary Centre for the Arts in Kelowna. He reflected on his mother’s love for cooking and the difficulties she encountered in maintaining a balanced diet. “She was losing weight, and we couldn’t find that service to provide her with nutritious meals that interested her,” he explained.
Heart to Home Meals offers a diverse selection of frozen meals with free delivery, ensuring accessibility without the burden of subscription fees or hidden costs. The menu features a color-coded system that categorizes meals according to dietary needs, including low sodium, high fiber, and vegetarian options, along with a comprehensive nutrition guide. Meals are available in three portion sizes and include minced and pureed options for seniors with specific dietary requirements.
The Kubas family understands the struggles many seniors face when it comes to nutrition. With the intention of honoring Rose’s memory, they seized the opportunity to open a franchise in the Okanagan after seeing an advertisement for Heart to Home Meals. “It was really meaningful to us,” JoAnn remarked, highlighting the emotional connection behind their business endeavor.
While the service primarily targets seniors, it remains open to all individuals seeking convenient meal solutions. Customers can place orders online at hearttohomemeals.ca or by calling the toll-free number at 1-888-302-3586. This initiative not only aims to provide quality meals but also fosters a sense of community and care for the elderly population in the region.
Heart to Home Meals represents a significant step toward addressing the nutritional needs of seniors in the Okanagan, ensuring that they remain well-fed and independent in the comfort of their homes.
