Windsor Regional Hospital is launching a recruitment drive to fill key positions in its diagnostic imaging (DI) department. The hospital aims to address staffing shortages by seeking talented professionals across Canada in various imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, and nuclear medicine.

A dedicated job recruitment page has been established to streamline the application process. Approximately 15 new staff members are needed to enhance the hospital’s DI capabilities. According to Nicole Krywionek, Chief Nursing Executive and Vice President of Windsor Regional Hospital, there are notable vacancies in MRI and CT departments, with four and five positions available, respectively. Additionally, the nuclear medicine department faces similar challenges with another four or five openings.

The hospital is offering a signing bonus of up to $25,000 as an incentive to attract qualified candidates. Krywionek noted, “We are trying some creative solutions. We’ve been very encouraged with the response to some of our latest recruitment efforts, and we are seeing the vacancies decrease.” Despite these efforts, the hospital currently experiences an overall vacancy rate of about 5 percent, with the DI sector exceeding 10 percent.

Krywionek explained that recruitment challenges stem partly from the absence of a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) training program in Windsor. This limitation compels the hospital to seek applicants from across Ontario. “We have good uptake with students, but as we see, this is a priority area across all of Ontario,” she added.

The recruitment initiative targets both the Ouellette and Met campuses of Windsor Regional Hospital. Interested candidates can find more information about the application process on the hospital’s dedicated recruitment page. This strategic effort reflects the hospital’s commitment to delivering high-quality care through advanced imaging technologies, ensuring patients receive timely and precise diagnoses.
