Youth Arrested in Ottawa Traffic Stop for Drug and Weapon Charges
A youth in Ottawa faces multiple charges related to drugs and firearms following a traffic stop in the early hours of Thursday, March 15, 2024. The incident occurred just after midnight in the 1400 block of Carling Avenue, where officers from the Ottawa Police Service were conducting a routine stop.
While engaging with the driver, officers observed drug paraphernalia and a white substance within the vehicle. During the arrest process, a loaded firearm was discovered, along with additional drugs on the individual. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed more drugs and a significant quantity of currency.
As a result of this operation, the youth has been charged with 10 offences relating to drug possession and firearm violations. The Ottawa Police Service is urging anyone with further information regarding this incident to reach out to the Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5050.
