Alberta’s Largest Craft Sale Invites Holiday Shoppers to Edmonton
The annual Butterdome Craft Sale is set to take place at the University of Alberta in Edmonton from December 4 to 7, 2023. This prominent event, recognized as Alberta’s largest craft fair, attracts hundreds of Canadian artisans and designers showcasing a diverse range of handmade products. Holiday shoppers can explore everything from ceramics and jewellery to clothing, woodwork, and specialty foods.
Since its inception in 1990, the Butterdome Craft Sale has become a cherished tradition for many in Edmonton, allowing attendees to connect directly with the makers of unique, handcrafted items. The event is organized by Signatures, a Canadian organization founded in 1980 by glassblower John Ladouceur and jeweller Casey Sadaka. Their mission was to provide local artisans with more opportunities to sell their crafts, and over the decades, they have developed some of the country’s most popular handmade markets.
What to Expect at the Craft Sale
This year’s Butterdome Craft Sale features a vast array of vendors, covering numerous categories that cater to all tastes and preferences. Attendees can browse offerings in body care, ceramics, clothing and accessories, food and drink, glass, home goods, jewellery, children’s items, toys, leather, metal, paper products, pet gear, photography, sculpture, textiles, visual art, and woodcraft.
Admission for the event is priced at $10, with a discounted rate of $8 for seniors. Students and individuals arriving after 17:00 on Thursday or Friday can enter for just $5. Children aged 17 and under are admitted free of charge.
In addition to the Butterdome Craft Sale, Edmonton is bustling with holiday markets this weekend. Shoppers can also explore the Edmonton Christmas Market and the OddBird Art & Craft Fair, providing ample opportunities to complete their holiday gift lists.
As the festive season approaches, the Butterdome Craft Sale stands out as a vibrant celebration of local craftsmanship and creativity. With its long-standing history and commitment to supporting artisans, the event promises to be an enriching experience for both shoppers and makers alike.
For those planning to attend, tickets can be purchased online to avoid long lines at the venue. Happy shopping!
