Arc’teryx Expands Flagship Store in Downtown Vancouver

Arc’teryx has officially launched its newly expanded flagship store at 1001 Robson St. in downtown Vancouver. This new location occupies a prominent site at the intersection of Burrard and Robson streets, previously home to Roots. The new store, measuring 6,430 sq. ft., increases the size of Arc’teryx’s retail space by over 50% compared to its former location at 813 Burrard St., which has now closed.
The redesigned flagship store serves as more than just a retail outlet; it embodies Arc’teryx’s commitment to the Vancouver community. Inside, shoppers will find a striking illuminated map of trails in Southwestern B.C. and tributes to local mountain athletes, highlighting the brand’s deep-rooted connection to the region. The expanded space showcases an extensive range of Arc’teryx’s technical apparel and outdoor gear, including its renowned jackets, footwear, and climbing equipment.
Significant Location Change and Retail Landscape Transformation
The opening of Arc’teryx’s new flagship follows the closure of Roots’ longstanding store at this corner in early 2025. Following the closure, the building underwent substantial renovations to accommodate Arc’teryx, consolidating spaces that were previously occupied by both Roots and La Vie en Rose. Earlier this summer, Roots relocated to a new flagship store just a block away, adjacent to Robson Square.
The expansion of Arc’teryx reflects a broader transformation occurring along Robson Street, which has recently welcomed other significant flagship stores, including Adidas and JD Sports. The new flagship store aims to elevate the retail experience for outdoor enthusiasts, providing a modern environment tailored to meet the demands of contemporary shoppers.
The previous 4,060 sq. ft. Arc’teryx store at 813 Burrard St. opened in 2017, replacing a former Le Chateau outlet. Signage at the old location indicates it will soon become a new Peak Performance store, another outdoor apparel brand under the same parent company as Arc’teryx.
Ongoing Developments in Downtown Vancouver
Nearby developments further illustrate the dynamic changes in downtown Vancouver’s retail landscape. Just to the north on Alberni Street, Canada’s second full-line Ralph Lauren store recently replaced Brooks Brothers. Additionally, on West Georgia Street, extensive renovations are underway at the base of the Royal Centre office tower. This project will introduce a new two-storey commercial addition, featuring a 9,000 sq. ft. restaurant with a 4,600 sq. ft. outdoor patio. The renovations are expected to be completed by the end of this year, further enhancing the area’s appeal.
As Vancouver continues to evolve, the opening of Arc’teryx’s flagship store marks a significant step in the ongoing revitalization of the city’s retail environment, aligning with consumer desires for innovative and experiential shopping options.
