Beloved Educator Dianne Sharp Passes Away at 78
The community of Port Elgin mourns the loss of Dianne Sharp, who passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 78. Known for her warmth and dedication, Dianne left a profound impact on the lives she touched, both as a devoted mother and an inspiring teacher.
Dianne, formerly Dianne Klager, was predeceased by her husband, Frank Sharp. She is survived by her two sons, Dan Foster and his wife Bev, and Shawn Foster and his wife Nicole. Dianne was also a proud grandmother to Gracie, Julia, Riley, and Tyler. Her extended family, including Frank’s relatives Kim, Sherry, and Jason, will remember her fondly.
As a lifelong educator, Dianne dedicated her career to nurturing young minds. She firmly believed in the transformative power of learning and the importance of kindness. Beyond academic lessons, Dianne imparted invaluable life lessons, creating a classroom atmosphere where every student felt supported and valued. Her ability to connect with people extended beyond school; her home was a haven of warmth and love.
Dianne’s vibrant personality was characterized by her love for the color purple and all things sparkly, reflecting her radiant spirit. Her laughter was contagious, and her comforting presence made her a cherished figure in the lives of many. Her family describes her as a woman whose generosity and unwavering love shaped their lives profoundly.
Though her absence leaves a significant void, the legacy of Dianne’s kindness and strength endures. Her family takes solace in the belief that her light continues to shine through the memories and lessons she shared.
A service to celebrate the life of Dianne Sharp will take place at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 525 Ivings Dr., Port Elgin, on February 10, 2026, at 13:00. Following the service, a casual gathering will be held at the Port Elgin Legion, 630 Green St., Port Elgin, from 15:00 to 18:00. Attendees are welcome to join either event or both.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, honoring Dianne’s lifelong commitment to community and care.
As the community reflects on Dianne’s life, they remember her favorite saying, “Live, Laugh, Love,” which encapsulates her philosophy and the joy she brought to others.
