Chelmsford’s J.P. Brosseau Expands Holiday Dinner Giveaway
In Chelmsford, a community initiative led by J.P. Brosseau is once again providing holiday meals to families in need. For the second consecutive year, Brosseau’s effort aims to spread goodwill by distributing turkey dinner packages, showcasing the spirit of Christmas through acts of kindness.
Last year, Brosseau initiated this charitable project with the goal of assisting around 25 families. However, word quickly spread about his intentions, resulting in a remarkable expansion. By the end of the campaign, he had distributed approximately 300 meal packages. This year, the initiative, dubbed the “Need to Feed,” has received around $7,000 in donations, allowing Brosseau to continue his mission.
One of the beneficiaries from last year, Thea Lavorato, has now taken on a role of support. “I kind of just wanted to give back in the ways that I knew that I could,” she said. After receiving help last year, Lavorato is now donating both time and resources to aid families facing similar hardships. She picked up meal packages this week to deliver to those in need.
Brosseau, who faced personal challenges this year with the loss of both parents, contemplated stopping the initiative. Yet, he found inspiration in the gratitude expressed by families who received meals. “Maybe doing this might actually help me as well,” he reflected. The emotional responses from recipients reaffirmed his commitment to the project.
The community has rallied around the cause, with Poulin Potatoes contributing 180 bags of potatoes for the meals. Brosseau noted the importance of community support, emphasizing that many families in the Sudbury area continue to struggle. “I know that there are a lot of families throughout the Sudbury area that struggle just as much, if not more than I did,” he remarked.
As of December 11, Brosseau has already distributed 150 meals and plans to continue until the cutoff date of December 23. He expressed his determination to sustain the initiative in future years, driven by the ongoing generosity from local businesses and friends. The spirit of giving has transformed not only Lavorato’s life but also reinforced the bonds within the Chelmsford community, reminding everyone that hope and compassion can flourish during the holiday season.
