Community Mourns the Loss of John V.C. Martin, 77
The community is mourning the sudden passing of John V.C. Martin, who died on October 2, 2025, at the age of 77. Martin served with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for 37.5 years, earning admiration for his dedication and service to the communities he protected. His commitment to public service extended well beyond his retirement, as he spent over 14 years volunteering at the Sault Area Hospital, where he was known for his kindness and compassion.
John is survived by his wife, Micheline Bouchard, with whom he shared a loving partnership and numerous adventures across the globe. Together, they created lasting memories that will be cherished by their family and friends. John is also survived by his four children: Erik Martin (Kristen), Kelly Martin (Jim), Christine Kensit (Peter), and Mark Kensit (Annette). He took great pride in being a grandfather, leaving behind a legacy through his grandchildren, including Gabriel, Freddy, Rolly, Ruby, Izzy, Marty, Cooper, Charlotte, David, and Tyler.
The loss of John extends beyond family ties. He will be sorely missed by his loyal dog, Zoey, and by many friends and colleagues, including his close friend Dave Stokes. Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Hildred Martin, and his in-laws, Gérard and Fernande Bouchard, John also leaves behind several siblings-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
