Discover Ukrainian Heritage at East European Genealogical Society Event
The East European Genealogical Society is hosting a meeting on September 30, 2023, featuring a presentation on the significant work of Vladimir Julian Kaye. His trilogy, titled Dictionary of Ukrainian Canadian Biography, serves as a vital resource for individuals researching their Ukrainian immigrant ancestors who settled in the Canadian Prairie provinces.
During this online event, attendees will gain insight into the contents of Kaye’s trilogy and learn about the methodology he employed to select the biographies included. The presentation will showcase how these biographies can act as a foundation for further research. Presenters Chris Bukoski and Marni Domolewski will each conduct a case study, illustrating the process of leveraging these biographies for deeper genealogical exploration.
This meeting will be conducted via Zoom and is open to everyone interested in Ukrainian heritage. Those who are not yet members of the society can obtain attendance details by contacting [email protected]. Participation is limited to 100 people, emphasizing the need for timely registration.
The event is designed to foster connections among individuals interested in genealogy and Ukrainian history, creating a platform for shared learning and discussion. Engaging with the biographies outlined in Kaye’s work could significantly enhance attendees’ understanding of their ancestry and the historical context of Ukrainian immigration to Canada.
As interest in genealogy continues to grow, the East European Genealogical Society aims to provide valuable resources and opportunities for individuals seeking to connect with their roots. The presentation by Bukoski and Domolewski promises to be an enriching experience for all participants.
