Family and Friends Mourn the Loss of Donald James Wonnacott
The Wonnacott family is mourning the loss of Donald James Wonnacott, who passed away on November 28, 2025, just days shy of his 60th birthday. His death followed a brief but brave battle with liver cancer, a struggle that he faced with courage and determination.
Born on December 6, 1965, Donald, affectionately known as Donny, was the beloved son of Janet and the late Reginald Wonnacott. He is remembered fondly by his family, including his brother Tom, sister Julie, and their spouses, Melonie and Michael. Donny also took pride in his role as an uncle to Nicole, Lindsey, and Danielle, and as a great-uncle to Kenzi and Hunter.
In addition to his immediate family, Donny is survived by his son, David. Although their lives had taken them in different directions, Donny maintained a quiet bond with David, always wishing for his well-being and success. His family acknowledges that this connection remained significant to him throughout his life.
Beyond his family, Donny had a special relationship with his long-term former partner, Marlo St Pierre, and her son Trace, as well as her granddaughter Kennedy. The Wonnacott family expresses gratitude to Marlo for the care and support she provided during Donny’s illness, highlighting the importance of community and love in challenging times.
Family Service Planned for Spring
In accordance with Donny’s wishes, the family plans a small graveside service in the spring. This intimate gathering will allow family and close friends to pay their respects and remember the joyful moments shared with him.
The Wonnacott family also encourages memorial donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, honoring Donny’s memory and supporting a cause significant to many. Donations can be made by cheque or online, with further details available on the O’Sullivan Funeral Home website.
Arrangements for the service have been entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 215 St. James St., Sault Ste. Marie, ON, P6A 1P7, with contact available at 705-759-8456.
As family and friends reflect on the life of Donald James Wonnacott, they are reminded of his kindness, love, and the lasting impact he had on those around him. He will be forever remembered in their hearts.
