Heather was born on April 20, 1952, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Early in her life, she moved to Victoria, British Columbia, where she spent her young adulthood. Eventually, she returned to her hometown, where in 1991 she met her husband, Allan Yeates, who became not only her partner but also her best friend. The couple established their home in Sault Ste. Marie, where they became well-known members of their community.
Throughout her life, Heather found joy in spending time with family and friends. She was fondly referred to as “Auntie Heather” by children in Fisher Trailer Park, reflecting her nurturing spirit. Heather was the daughter of the late Mable Elsie Tonkin (married to Jim McNulty) and Thomas Lalonde. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and David Rudd, as well as her infant siblings, Linda and Robert.

Additionally, she is mourned by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Her cherished pets, Mischief, Bandit, Tia Maria, and Jose Fernados, who passed before her, will also be remembered fondly.
As the family prepares to honor Heather’s life, a Celebration of Life will be planned in Sault Ste. Marie. In lieu of flowers, they invite donations to a charity of choice as a tribute to Heather’s compassionate spirit. The family encourages everyone to embrace their loved ones, reflecting Heather’s belief in the importance of connection.
