Family Mourns Drago Prgomet, Beloved Husband and Father
Drago Prgomet, a devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH). Surrounded by his family, he was 87 years old. His loss is deeply felt by his loved ones, who remember him for his unwavering dedication to family and community.
Born on January 1, 1938, in a family that valued strong bonds, Drago spent 58 years married to his beloved wife, Rose Prgomet. Together, they nurtured a loving family that includes their children George (Susan), John (Debra), and Rosanne (Mario). He took immense pride in being a grandfather to eight grandchildren: Mara Cattaneo (Fede), Jessica Vollick (Matt), Shayla, Jayce, Matthew, Ante, Luka, and Adam. Additionally, he was a cherished great-grandfather to Nathan, Mateo, Naya, and Spencer.
Drago was also remembered fondly by his brother-in-law, Ante Grancic (Joanne), along with their family. He was predeceased by his parents, Jure and Cvita Prgomet, and his wife, Mara. His siblings, including Iko, Mila, Ante, Joko, and the late Slava, also contributed to the strong family legacy he leaves behind.
Funeral Arrangements and Tribute
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Gregory’s Church, located at 71 Estelle Street, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating. Following the service, Drago will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at ARCH for their exceptional care and compassion during Drago’s final days. In lieu of flowers, they request that memorial donations be made to ARCH, which can be done via cheque or online at https://www.archhospice.ca/donate.
