The Headwaters Health Care Foundation (HHCF) is set to host the second annual Headwaters Hike to Fight Cancer on October 9, 2023. This community event will take place from 15:30 to 19:30 at the Caledon Ski Club West Lodge, located at 17431 Mississauga Rd., Caledon. Participants are invited to join the hike in support of loved ones affected by cancer.

“We’re thrilled to bring the community together once again for a cause that touches so many lives,” said K.C. Carruthers, CEO of the Headwaters Health Care Foundation. The hike aims to raise vital funds for equipment and services focused on cancer care. Last year’s inaugural event successfully collected $68,000 specifically for breast cancer care, highlighting the community’s commitment to supporting local healthcare.

This year, the hike’s mission has expanded to encompass all forms of cancer care at the Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC). “With government funding not covering the cost of medical equipment, every dollar raised helps ensure patients receive the best possible care close to home,” HHCF stated.

Registration Details and Community Involvement

Early bird registration for the Headwaters Hike to Fight Cancer is currently open and will remain available until September 12. During this period, registration costs $25 for adults and $15 for youth. After the early bird period, the fees will increase to $35 for adults and $25 for youth until the event date.

Participants are encouraged to register early to take advantage of the discounted rates and to set up personal fundraising pages. In addition to individual participants, HHCF is offering sponsorship opportunities for local businesses and organizations. “It’s a meaningful way to give back to the community while gaining visibility among engaged participants and supporters,” the foundation remarked.
