Honda Civic Dominates Canadian Market as Best-Selling Car of 2025
The Honda Civic has once again secured its position as Canada’s best-selling passenger car for 2025, marking an impressive milestone as it claims this title for the 26th time in the last 28 years. With total sales of 31,054 units, including hybrids, sedans, and hatchbacks, the Civic continues to hold its ground as “Canada’s Car.”
In addition to the Civic’s success, the Honda CR-V Hybrid emerged as the best-selling hybrid vehicle in the country. A remarkable 55,987 CR-Vs were sold, with 35,325 of those being hybrid models. This achievement underscores the growing popularity of hybrid-electric vehicles in Canada, aligning with Honda’s broader electrification strategy.
Commitment to Quality and Reliability
Emile Korkor, Assistant Vice President at Honda Canada, expressed gratitude for the continued support from Canadian consumers. “Year after year, Canadians choose Civic because it consistently delivers what matters most; quality, reliability, value, and driving pleasure,” Korkor stated. He emphasized that the Civic’s status as the nation’s number one selling passenger car, along with the CR-V Hybrid leading the hybrid segment, reflects the dedication of Honda of Canada Manufacturing associates.
The Honda Civic has been produced at Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) plants in Alliston, Ontario, since 1988, making it the longest-running automotive nameplate for the company. Over this period, more than 6 million Civics have rolled off the production line in Alliston. HCM serves as the global lead plant for manufacturing the CR-V and the North American lead plant for the CR-V Hybrid.
A Legacy of Sales and Innovation
With approximately 2.3 million Civics sold in Canada since its introduction in 1973, the model has become a staple of the Canadian automotive landscape. The CR-V, launched in 1995, is Honda’s best-selling vehicle in North America, with global sales exceeding 15 million units.
As Honda of Canada Mfg. prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026, the company remains committed to innovation and quality. The ongoing success of the Civic and CR-V models highlights Honda’s ability to meet consumer demands while adapting to an ever-evolving automotive market.
