Fast forward to 1985, when the Brandon Wheat Kings made headlines by acquiring right-winger Rod Williams from the New Westminster Bruins. This move added a dynamic player to the team, generating excitement among fans and contributing to the club’s competitive edge in the league.
In 1995, Shane Twerdun emerged as a standout player for the Vincent Massey Vikings, scoring two goals in a thrilling 6-4 exhibition victory over the Crocus Plainsmen. This match not only showcased Twerdun’s talent but also highlighted the intensity of high school hockey in the region.
