Rotary Club of Duncan Honors Kierra Lebreton as December Student of the Month
The Rotary Club of Duncan has selected Kierra Lebreton as its December Student of the Month, recognizing her significant contributions to the Cowichan Valley Open Learning Co-Op (CVOLC) culinary arts program. A Grade 12 student, Lebreton embodies the qualities of a dedicated learner and an inspiring peer, as noted by CVOLC principal Venessa MacDowell.
Lebreton is described as “positive, supportive, independent, and wise,” traits that contribute to her ability to motivate those around her. Her commitment to her education extends beyond personal achievement; she actively participates in her school’s culinary arts program, collaborating with classmates to prepare meals for the entire school community. This initiative takes place every Tuesday and Wednesday, fostering a sense of togetherness and creating a warm environment for all students and staff.
Kierra’s future aspirations include pursuing post-secondary education in the trades, where she hopes to further her skills and knowledge. The recognition from the Rotary Club serves as a testament to her hard work and dedication, which resonates within the school community.
On December 15, 2023, Bob Cairns, the President of the Rotary Club of Duncan, presented Lebreton with her certificate and award. Cairns expressed pride in honoring Kierra, stating, “The Rotary Club of Duncan is proud to name Kierra as its December Student of the Month.”
The Rotary Club of Duncan, established in 1930, is committed to community service and enhancing the lives of individuals in need. Through this initiative, the club continues to celebrate and support students who demonstrate exceptional character and contribute positively to their communities.
