Sycamore’s Holiday Arts Market Offers Unique Gifts Until Christmas
The Kishwaukee Valley Art League (KVAL) is hosting a series of festive events at the Gallery on State in Sycamore, Illinois, throughout December. These activities aim to celebrate local artistry and provide the community with opportunities to find unique holiday gifts. The Holiday Arts and Crafts Market, featuring handcrafted items by local artists, will remain open until December 24.
On December 4, KVAL will hold its next general meeting at 19:00, where attendees can engage in the “Create with KVAL” challenge. Participants are encouraged to produce themed artwork in various forms, including photography, sculpture, 2D art, and jewelry, with the theme of “Winter.” This event promises to showcase the creativity of local artists while fostering a sense of community.
The gallery will also open its doors during Sycamore’s annual “Walk With Santa” event on December 5. Visitors will have the chance to browse a selection of gifts crafted by local artisans. Additionally, the league will be part of the Winter Chocolate Walk on December 11, where guests can sample chocolate treats from downtown Sycamore businesses.
KVAL has planned a special “Meet The Artists” event, which will feature holiday art demonstrations and a selection of gift items. Attendees can obtain entry cards and hot cocoa mugs at Blumen Gardens, located at 403 Edward St. Tickets for these holiday activities can be purchased at DiscoverSycamore.com.
The gallery has recently introduced a new art rotation that includes various 2D and 3D pieces such as sculptures, paintings, photography, and mixed-media installations. These artworks are available for purchase and will be on display until the end of January.
On December 13, KVAL will conduct its Second Saturday Art Workshop from 10:00 to 14:00 at the Gallery on State. Members can also participate in the “Secret Subject” challenge, where they will draw sealed envelopes containing one-word prompts for their artistic creations. The resulting artworks will be presented at the league’s general meeting on February 5.
In a show of generosity, KVAL is collecting new art supplies to donate to local charities. These supplies can be dropped off at the Gallery on State, and monetary donations are also welcomed. More details can be found on the league’s website at kval-nfp.org.
These events not only enhance the local culture but also provide a platform for artists to share their work while encouraging community involvement during the festive season.
