Vancouver Island has been recognized as one of the top winter travel destinations globally, landing the 11th position in a recent list by the travel media platform Travel and Tour World (TTW). This accolade highlights the island’s growing appeal to international travellers as winter approaches.

In a feature celebrating standout winter getaways, TTW’s selection was informed by feedback from over 15 million readers, along with insights from its editorial team and analysis of destination trends. Vancouver Island was praised for its rich Indigenous and Canadian coastal culture, vibrant arts scene, and lively music festivals, making it a unique destination for diverse visitors.

For those with a passion for cuisine, TTW pointed out the island’s culinary delights, including salmon, seafood chowder, and the famous Nanaimo bars. Travellers were encouraged to explore key sites such as Butchart Gardens, Tofino, and the scenic harbourfront in Victoria.

Recognition for Vancouver Island

“This feature highlights thirty standout islands captivating travellers this winter season,” stated Anup Kumar Keshan, founder and editor-in-chief of TTW. He emphasized how these islands represent modern wanderlust, merging luxury, culture, and sustainability to redefine winter travel experiences.

Notably, Vancouver Island is the only Canadian destination to make the TTW list, reflecting its rising stature in global tourism. It joins several other locations in British Columbia that have recently received accolades, reinforcing the province’s reputation as a premier travel hub.

In addition to this recognition, the Wickaninnish Inn on Vancouver Island has been named one of the world’s best resorts, placing it among the most luxurious accommodations in North America. Furthermore, Ucluelet was highlighted as a top global travel destination for 2026 in a new report by Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo.
