Volunteers Sought for Langley City’s Terry Fox Run on Sept. 14
The annual Terry Fox Run in Langley City is scheduled for September 14, 2025, and organizers are actively seeking volunteers to support this important fundraiser aimed at combating cancer. This year, the event will take place on the second Sunday of September, a slight shift from its traditional timing on the third Sunday.
Community Involvement Essential for Success
According to Tom Barichello, a long-time volunteer with the event, the success of the run relies on the dedication of a small group of individuals who have consistently organized the event over the years. “A very small group of dedicated volunteers have been organizing the annual Langley City Terry Fox Run for quite a few years,” Barichello stated.
Volunteers play a crucial role in various capacities, including setting up and registering participants at Douglas Park, acting as route marshals during the run, and assisting with the teardown after the event concludes. The involvement of community members not only enhances the event’s operation but also fosters a spirit of collaboration and support for the Terry Fox Foundation.
How to Get Involved
Individuals interested in volunteering are encouraged to reach out to the event organizers. Those who wish to lend a hand can contact Danette via text or phone at 604-866-8867, or by email at [email protected]. Alternatively, Barichello can be reached at 778-839-2469 or [email protected].
Barichello emphasized the importance of volunteering for this cause, stating, “Volunteering is an amazing way of supporting the Terry Fox Foundation and its ongoing mandate to find cures for all forms of cancer.” The Terry Fox Run has become a significant annual event, drawing local communities together to honor the legacy of Terry Fox and contribute to cancer research.
As the event approaches, organizers hope to rally more participants and volunteers to ensure a successful run. The collective effort of volunteers not only contributes to the logistics of the event but also reinforces the community’s commitment to fighting cancer.
