Windsor/Essex Humane Society Promotes Holiday Pet Adoption
The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society has initiated its annual 12 Days of Christmas adoption campaign, aimed at alleviating overcrowding in its shelter and finding homes for animals during the festive season. This promotion runs from December 12 to 23, 2023, featuring a unique adoption special each day, which includes significantly reduced fees or waived costs for adopting pets.
Encouraging Community Involvement
Executive Director Lynnette Bain emphasized the spirit of the season, describing it as a time for “kindness and connection.” She expressed hope that community members would consider welcoming pets in need into their homes. “We encourage the community to join us in making the season brighter for pets in need to help find their new families and spend their holidays in a loving home,” Bain stated.
The promotion encompasses a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and small animals. However, Bain stressed the importance of thoughtful decision-making regarding pet adoption. She cautioned against giving pets as surprise gifts, highlighting that adopting a pet is a significant commitment. “While we love seeing animals go home for the holidays, it’s important to remember that adopting a pet is a big commitment,” she said. “We encourage families to come in together, meet the animals, and make thoughtful, informed decisions.”
Adoption Benefits and Availability
All dogs, cats, and rabbits adopted during this event will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, ensuring they are ready for their new homes. The Humane Society plans to publish a detailed schedule of daily specials on its website and social media platforms, making it easier for potential adopters to stay informed.
For those interested in participating in the 12 Days of Christmas adoption campaign, more information is available on the Humane Society’s official channels or at their shelter in Ontario, Canada. This initiative not only aims to find loving homes for animals but also fosters a sense of community and compassion during the holiday season.
