Yorkville Community Engages in Story Walk for Chance to Win Signed Book
A new community initiative in Yorkville invites residents to enjoy a winter stroll while engaging with literature. The story walk along the snowy path at Junior Women’s Club Park features red ribbons that mark each segment of the journey. This collaborative project involves the Yorkville Public Library, Yorkville School District 115, and the Yorkville Education Foundation.
The current featured story is “The Gift of Everything” by Patrick McDonnell. This delightful tale emphasizes the importance of gratitude, conveying that “joy is all around us, and an attitude of gratitude is a gift within itself,” as stated by library staff.
To enhance the experience and encourage participation, the library is offering a unique opportunity for individuals to win signed copies of “The Gift of Everything.” Jennette Weiss, the library’s youth services director, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Since as a community member, you are a gift, we’d love to offer you the chance to win a signed copy of ‘The Gift of Everything.’”
Multiple copies of the book will be raffled off while the story remains on display through the end of March 2024. Residents can enter the raffle in two ways. The first option requires participants to take a photo during their visit to the story walk and post it on the designated Padlet site. Alternatively, visitors can obtain their own bow from the library, place it on an item they perceive as a gift, and post it at the same link. Engaging in both activities will result in two entries for the raffle.
Winners will be announced at the end of February and again at the end of March 2024. Participants must include their name and local school in their posts to qualify. For those who prefer to communicate via email, they can reach out to the Y115 book ambassador at [email protected] to provide their contact information.
This initiative not only promotes reading and community involvement but also cultivates a sense of gratitude among residents. As the story walk continues throughout this winter season, it serves as a reminder of the simple joys that can be found in everyday life.
