Canadian Wakesurf & Foiling Nationals Set for Lake Koocanusa
Riders from across Canada will gather at Lake Koocanusa on September 6 and 7, 2025, for the Canadian Wakesurf & Foiling Nationals, hosted by SWS Marine Group. This two-day event will introduce a new division for foiling, promising an exciting experience for participants and spectators alike.
Organizing committee member Loree Duczek expressed enthusiasm about the return of foiling to the competition. “We are excited to have foiling back this year and know these riders will add another level of excitement to the line-up,” she stated. The event will showcase a full roster of wakesurfing categories, from juniors to professional competitors, featuring both skim and surf-style riding.
Participants can look forward to impressive displays of skill, including big air tricks, technical wakesurf maneuvers, and thrilling foiling performances. The championships will be hosted at Koocanusa Village, with registration open until September 2. Duczek emphasized the importance of this deadline, stating, “No late entries will be accepted, so we are encouraging anyone interested in attending to make sure they get registered by the September 2 deadline.”
The competition will unfold on a designated one-minute course, with expectations of over 60 riders taking part. Beyond the thrilling competitions, attendees will enjoy a food truck on site, beach games, and a livestream of the event. A dinner will also be held on Saturday night, enhancing the community atmosphere of the event.
In addition to the competitions, attendees will have the opportunity to experience the latest boats from SWS Marine Group. A 2025 Malibu M230 and a 2025 Barletta pontoon boat will be available for free demonstrations throughout the weekend. Duczek noted the vibrant atmosphere that past events have fostered, saying, “We’ve had spectators lining the course and cheering the riders on from both land and water, and we’d love to see a beach full of people again this year. Bring a lawn chair, go for a boat demo, and enjoy the music, food, and fun as we celebrate the wakesurf community and support all the riders.”
The Canadian Wakesurf & Foiling Nationals will follow the successful SWS Marine Group BC Provincial Championships, which took place at the same location in mid-August. With a growing community of wakesurf enthusiasts, this event promises to be a highlight of the summer sports calendar in Canada.
