This initiative, funded by the Illinois Sheriff’s Association (ISA), will provide one selected student with a scholarship of $500 for the upcoming academic year.
In a news release issued by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, detailed information on the scholarship was shared. The scholarship is open to residents of DeKalb County who are enrolled as full-time students at an accredited institution of higher learning in Illinois during the 2026-2027 school year. This includes students participating in online education programs.
Applications for the scholarship are currently being accepted. Interested students can obtain application forms at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office or access them online at ilsheriff.org/youth-2/. Completed applications must be submitted to the Sheriff’s Office by March 13, 2026. For those opting to mail their applications, it is essential that the envelopes are postmarked by this date.
The ISA is committed to supporting education, having allocated over $58,000 in scholarships throughout Illinois for the 2026-2027 school year. The selection of the scholarship recipient will be handled by a committee composed of local citizens and education professionals, ensuring a fair and thorough evaluation process.
This scholarship opportunity is a significant gesture towards encouraging educational pursuits among local youth, aligning with the ISA’s broader mission to enhance community engagement through support for higher education.
