Lake County Coroner’s Office Achieves Prestigious Reaccreditation

The Lake County Coroner’s Office has successfully received reaccreditation from the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners (IACME) after a rigorous review process. This reaccreditation underscores the office’s commitment to upholding high standards in its operations, ensuring that its policies, procedures, and practices align with international benchmarks.
The reaccreditation process involved a comprehensive review of 285 standards across various areas, including administrative practices, forensic investigations, and facility operations. According to the IACME, the office demonstrated exemplary performance by achieving 100% compliance with mandatory standards and 90% compliance with all applicable standards.
Commitment to Excellence
The IACME acknowledged the significance of this reaccreditation, stating, “When an agency elects to subject themselves to this process, it clearly indicates their desire to stand to peer review and demonstrate to the public and stakeholders a strong desire to provide excellence in service provision.” This statement highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in the field of forensic science.
Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek expressed her gratitude for the hard work that led to this achievement. She stated, “I especially appreciate the commitment to prepare for this process by Chief Deputy Steve Newton and our hardworking staff, who are dedicated to this work every day. Additionally, I want to thank the Lake County Administration for their ongoing support of our office and its mission.”
The reaccreditation lasts for a period of five years and reflects the professionalism and compassion that the Lake County Coroner’s Office aims to provide to the community.
